Yearly Social Security Increases

Every fall, Congress announces a cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for the monthly benefits of all Social Security Recipients.

The COLA adjustment is effective starting the January after the announcement is made. For example, the COLA increase announced in October 2019 goes into effect for the payments starting in January 2020.

The table below shows the COLA adjustments for 2013-2020.
